Car crashes into scaffolding surrounding Times Square building in downtown Seattle

The scaffolding must be removed before the car can be towed away.

SEATTLE — A driver crashed into scaffolding surrounding the historic Times Square building in downtown Seattle late Sunday night.

Crews are still figuring out how to extricate the vehicle Monday morning.

The building is registered as a historic landmark and was formerly the headquarters for the Seattle Times, according to the Pacific Coast Architecture Database

It's unknown if there are any injuries resulting from the crash. KING 5 is working to learn whether there is any structural damage to the building and what led up to the crash.

One lane of Stewart Street is closed while work is underway to clean up the scaffolding and tow the car.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
