SEATTLE — A man who murdered another man and shot another person in West Seattle in 2022 was sentenced Monday.

Jaycee Cedric Thompson, 44, was sentenced to 59 years and 10 months in prison.

On Oct. 11, a jury found Thompson guilty of first-degree murder, first-degree attempted robbery, first-degree attempted murder and first-degree kidnapping.

After his time in prison, Thompson was also ordered to be in community custody for 36 months on the murder, attempted murder and kidnapping charges and 18 months on the attempted robbery charge.

Prosecutors said Thompson went on a “violent crime spree” in the Delridge neighborhood starting in the late hours of June 19, 2022. Thompson tried to rob a friend in an alleyway at gunpoint. He pointed a gun and hit the victim with it.

Thompson drove to a nearby encampment and went into an RV where he shot someone in the stomach. That person recovered after being taken to Harborview Medical Center.

Thompson drove to another encampment where he kidnapped an acquaintance at gunpoint, taking them to another acquaintance’s home in the encampment. Thompson went inside and shot and killed Anthony Gonzalez as he sat on his bed.

Seattle police officers arrested Thompson less than two days later when he returned to the scene driving the same van believed to be used during the crime spree. Police believed the van was stolen.

As of September, this is the 59th violent crime the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office resolved through trial this year. Seventeen of those were murder trials, the office said.
