SEATTLE — The Space Needle will be open as normal Friday after a small fire was put out in the elevator control room early this morning.
The elevators were not operating when fire crews got to Seattle Center, forcing firefighters to climb 90 flights of stairs to reach the fire at the very top of the needle.
The fire ignited at around 4 a.m. Crews were doing construction in the control room at the time, however the cause of the fire is currently unknown.
The fire was under control as of 5:10 a.m.
About 10 units initially responded to the call. The elevators are back to functioning as normal.
