Former Eastlake Bar & Grill in Seattle burns down in overnight fire

The flames were visible for miles early Friday morning.

SEATTLE — The former Eastlake Bar & Grill burnt down in an overnight fire in Seattle.

The fire sparked at around 1 a.m. on Friday.

The flames could be seen for miles around and there was heavy smoke in the Eastlake neighborhood. Seattle Fire crews advised those in the area to keep their windows closed.

The roof of the building collapsed at around 2 a.m.

Crews were still dumping water on the fire almost four hours after it was first reported. Firefighters will remain on scene into the morning to make sure the fire is completely out.

More than 70 Seattle Fire personnel responded to the scene.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. No injuries were reported.

The building was set to be demolished soon to make way for a new apartment building. The Land Use Application shows plans for a five-story, 130-unit building with four live-work units and a restaurant, and parking for 85 vehicles.
