SEATTLE — Interstate 5 southbound has opened through downtown Seattle after a semi-truck crash closed the road for hours Tuesday morning.
All lanes were blocked in the early morning hours after the truck collided with a barrier and jack-knifed across all lanes of the freeway. At one point the truck was spilling diesel fuel.
The collision took place near the James Street exit.
The Washington State Department of Transportation, Washington State Patrol and the Department of Ecology responded to the collision. At one point, the backup from the crash was seven miles long.
