SEATTLE — A homicide investigation is underway in Seattle’s Lake City neighborhood after a man was struck and killed by a car Monday morning.
Patrol officers with the Seattle Police Department responded to reports of a crash near Northeast 125th Street and 30th Avenue Northeast at about 4:45 a.m.
A 33-year-old man was found in the roadway. Crews gave him life-saving aid, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
"It is right in front of your front door," said Randy Wright, Pierre Ford of Seattle service manager. The car dealer is located on the road that was blocked off during the morning investigation. "We spend so much time of our lives here. I mean it is a little personal for everybody."
Police believe there was a disturbance between the victim and another man before the victim was hit by a car. It was not clear if the suspect and the 33-year-old man knew each other, Munoz said.
"That is the first time I have seen it personally 30 feet away from me,” said employee Tabatha Hindman who added that was a devastating start to the day for her and the customers too.
The vehicle fled the scene. Police have not found the car or the suspect. Investigators have a possible suspect, although he has not been identified, according to Munoz.
Police did not release the vehicle description.
Homicide detectives are expected to interview witnesses to the incident. The Crime Scene Investigation Unit also responded to the scene.
"They didn't know what they were coming into, all they saw was the road blocked and didn't know that we had had a homicide outside,” Hindman said. "I just hope that we actually find the guy because nobody deserves that."
Police said to call the SPD Violent Crime Tip Line at (206) 233-5000, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS if you have any information.
