The Seattle teenager who killed a man while stealing his cell phone was sentenced on Monday.
Byron White, 19, will spend the next 28 years in prison for killing David Peterson. White shot Peterson in February 2014 in Seattle's Greenwood neighborhood.
Records show when White saw Peterson calling 911, he shot him in the chest.
White apologized to Peterson's family in court.
"I know that nothing I can say or do will heal your pain or fix your wounds but I want to truly apologize," he said.
At the time of the murder, White was a senior at Ballard High School and was a varsity football player.
