SEATTLE -- The Seattle seawall replacement project will be welcome relief to Puget Sound.
The Seattle Transportation Department (SDOT) built a new storm water treatment system into the plans for the new seawall.
It will slant the street to direct storm water away from Puget Sound and into a new network of pipes that will filter it and treat the toxic runoff before releasing it to the Sound.
Storm runoff from streets has been found to contain several chemicals and toxins that are hazardous for sea life.
