SEATTLE — Seattle police are asking for the public's help related to a deadly shooting that took place in Capitol Hill in early July.
One person was shot and killed at around 12:30 a.m. on July 1 as people were still out and about in the city, celebrating Seattle Pride.
911 callers reported the shooting on the 1000 block of East Pike Street.
When Seattle Police arrived at the location, they found one person with a gunshot wound. Police provided aid until medics arrived and pronounced the person dead at the scene. The victim was later identified as 23-year-old Kenji Z. Spurgeon.
The cause of death was identified as a gunshot wound to the chest.
Witnesses out celebrating during Seattle Pride reported hearing multiple gunshots and commotion around midnight.
Police are investigating what led up to the shooting. Seattle Police Department detectives are seeking help from the community in obtaining information about the shooting. Anyone with information is asked to call the Violent Crimes Tip Line at (206) 233-5000.
