Rooftop Brewing, Ladro Roastery and food truck damaged after overnight fire rips through building

Fire officials determined the fire was accidental. There were no injuries.

SEATTLE — A building that is home to a brewery and coffee shop caught fire in Seattle's Interbay neighborhood overnight.

The building houses Rooftop Brewing and Ladro Roastery and is home to the Smash That Burger Co. food truck.

"I've put the last 12 plus years of my life into Rooftop Brewing," said Craig Christian, owner of Rooftop Brewing. "It's everything."

The owner of Rooftop Brewery said there is mostly smoke damage on their side of the building and they lost grain used for brewing. He estimates there were tens of thousands of dollars in losses.

"There was a pretty major fire to the area where the roaster is and the bean storage and where our grain is stored," Christian said. "Kind of in the back of the building. We know there is structural damage to the building, major, major smoke damage."

Fire officials determined the fire was accidental and there were no injuries.

"The hope is that we are made whole and able to build back," Christian said. "Maybe build back better."

The owner of Ladro Roastery said the damage is concentrated in that area of the building. According to the owner, some of the company's roasting equipment is damaged and they have lost some stock of espresso beans.

Fire crews broke into a garage door on Ladro Roastery to get into the building.

The owner of Ladro Roasting did not want to speak on camera but did tell us their cafes will not be impacted after getting some help from local roasters.
