SEATTLE — A Seattle methadone clinic is putting out an "urgent call for community support" after it suffered "catastrophic flooding" due to a burst sprinkler valve on Sunday.
On Jan.14, a sprinkler valve burst at Evergreen Treatment Services' clinic at 1700 Airport Way, the clinic said. The flooding led to significant damage and the building was deemed unsafe for staff and patients.
The clinic said it will be closed until further notice, impacting around 1,300 patients seeking opioid addiction treatment. The patients were moved to a Renton facility, but the clinic called this a "public health crisis."
"It is critical that our patients be able to continue treatment to prevent setbacks to recovery and fatal overdose. Make no mistake; this is a public health crisis," the clinic said on its website.
The clinic is asking for donations. You can find ways to donate at evergreentreatment.org.
