SEATTLE — A Seattle police officer pulled a man off train tracks just seconds before he would have been struck in dramatic new body camera video.
The Seattle Police Department (SPD) said officers responded to a mental health crisis call for a man sitting high above train tracks near the 2nd Avenue exit and East Jackson Street on Oct. 7.
SPD said it requested all inbound trains in that area be stopped, but one train was already inbound.
At some point, the man fell roughly 25 feet according to police. He suffered "serious" injuries and was unable to move, police said.
Officers ran onto the platform and managed to pull the man away from the tracks just seconds before the oncoming train passed by.
The 57-year-old man suffered multiple fractures and was taken to Harborview Medical Center.
SPD did not share the identity of the officer who saved the man.
