SEATTLE — Since August of this year, El Centro de la Raza has been sharing voter resources and hosting events to help eligible voters get registered to vote in the 2024 Election.
The nonprofit believes the more they can do to provide voter education, the better.
The election is Tuesday, Nov. 5.
Voters in Washington must get their ballots into a drop box by 8 p.m., or have them postmarked by that deadline.
An initial round of election returns is expected shortly after 8 p.m. on election day from ballots turned in early. Counties typically release additional results once daily following the election.
KING 5 will have complete Election Day coverage. For more information about Nov. 5 coverage - click here.
A summertime "get out the vote" voter education kickoff rally launched El Centro de la Raza's efforts for the upcoming election.
"Our community really showed up," said Humberto Marquez, Jr., El Centro's voter engagement organizer. "[It's about] meeting the community. We're out there. We're in farmers markets, celebrations and it is important that they get out and vote."
Marquez Jr. said it's important to get resources on voting and support from a friend or family member versus a "mass texting" campaign by a number of organizations.
El Centro is hosting a Día de los Muertos celebration from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2, which will also include a voter rally.
Voter resources and last-minute election information will be available. You can also enjoy a mercado, live music and entertainment, children’s activities, and see the "ofrenda" (altar) exhibit.
