If you're going to Saturday's headliner Boise State vs. University of Washington football game, plan ahead for parking. The Seattle Department of Transportation has added Saturday parking restrictions for University of Washington football games.
These restrictions affect the existing Restricted Parking Zone 6. Without a Zone 6 RPZ permit on the days of UW Husky football games, parking will not be allowed three hours before the games and two hours after the game.
This means that street parking north of Northeast 50th Street to Cowen Park and between 15th Avenue Northeast and 24th Avenue Northeast will now be restricted on game days.
SDOT held a public hearing on this topic in May. It also collected comments via online survey, phone and email through June 7.
The majority of comments supported the proposal, SDOT said. On the survey, 84 percent of respondents said they supported adding game-day restrictions to Zone 6. Of households that reported not having a permit, 67 percent said they supported the restrictions.
Those who did not support the proposal said that adding the restrictions would create additional parking problems just outside the zone.
