The University of Washington has been named the best college in the country for LGBTQ students.
BestColleges.com and Campus Pride released its 2019 rankings last week for campuses that are inclusive and provide unique resources to LGBTQ students.
UW came in No. 1 and was the only college in the Pacific Northwest to make the top 25.
The ranking combined BestColleges.com's affordability and academic metrics with the Campus Pride Index, which tracks how friendly campus life is for LGBTQ students.
Campus Pride gave UW top marks across the board for policy inclusion, support and institutional commitment, academic and student life, housing, campus safety, counseling, and recruitment and retention. The university also received praise for The Q Center, which is a student-run resource for LGBTQ students that offers support groups, a mentoring program, and free HIV testing.
UW students can also take advantage of gender-inclusive housing, non-gendered restrooms, and a special Lavender Graduation to celebrate queer and trans students.
Tufts University and Princeton University came in second and third in the ranking.
