SEATTLE – As University of Washington classes resume Wednesday, college tuition is scheduled to be cut 15 percent in the next two years.
"Every little bit helps," said Cassi Flint, as she moved into her north campus apartment.
Since Flint is a senior, she'll only see a five percent drop in tuition that takes affect this school year. Another 10 percent cut kicks in at UW next school year.
Tuition last year: $10,740
Tuition 2015-16: $10,203
Tuition 2016-17: $9,129

The total cumulative amount saved over two years equals $2,148. The university notes the figures only include the operating fee and not other mandatory fees.
The state legislature agreed to rollback tuition this summer.
Flint, and other students who talked to KING 5, were glad for the discount. Cassi, however, wasn't ecstatic. She pointed out tuition is only part of what college actually costs and the cut is only a small piece of her $25,000 student loan debt.
Washington State University students will see similar cuts to UW students. Regional universities will see 20 percent drops. Community college tuitions will drop 5 percent.
