SEATTLE --A semi-truck hit the Pergola in Seattle's Pioneer Square Thursday night, causing only minor damage.

It appears a truck driver was trying to make a right hand turn onto First Avenue when the top of the truck clipped the side of the Pergola.

The last time the historic structure was hit was back in 2001 when it was turned into a twisted, heap of cast iron after a truck rammed into it.Workers used historic photos to guide the project, putting the Pergola back in its original place 19 months after it was hit.

The historic Pergola was built in 1909, restored in 1972 and originally was a stop for the Yesler Street cable car.

The Pergola, which marks the site of the city's first sawmill, sheltered early Seattlites with its lacy ironwork and glass panels.
