A Shelton couple said ‘I do’ in an unusual place Monday – on a roller coaster.
“This is definitely more exciting than a boring old wedding,” said groom Kevin Slaughter. “So that’s what would make me want to choose it.”
Slaughter married Taylor Weaver on the wooden roller coaster at the Washington State Fair after winning a radio show contest.
Getting married on the roller coaster was Weaver’s idea.
“It’s something different,” she said. “We like to do things that are Washington themed, and what’s more Washington than the Puyallup State Fair?”
The bridal party was also involved riding on the roller coaster and taking a spin around the fairgrounds afterwards on the trolley. The reception was also at the fair, featuring the famous state fair scones.
Weaver and Slaughter will honeymoon in Las Vegas.
“We’re not very traditional to begin with,” Weaver said.
