SEATTLE — Two suspects are in custody following a robbery and shooting in Seattle's Chinatown-International District Saturday afternoon that injured two people, according to Seattle police.
The shooting happened around 12:15 p.m. near the intersection of 12th Avenue South and South Jackson Street, police tweeted.
Officers discovered a 41-year-old man and 28-year-old woman at the scene who had been shot in the legs. Both victims were taken to Harborview Medical Center in stable condition.
During the investigation officers learned that a male suspect had shot the male victim during a robbery. The female victim was not involved and had just been walking by, carrying her child when she was shot. The child was not harmed, police said.
Witnesses gave officers a description of the male suspect and also his female accomplice. Officers later found both suspects inside a vehicle at a gas station at Rainier Avenue South and South Charles Street.
The woman surrendered to police, but the man barricaded himself in the vehicle for several hours before he eventually surrendered, police said.
Police said they recovered a firearm from the vehicle.
The 28-year-old male suspect was booked into the King County Jail for charges of robbery and assault in the first-degree. The 27-year-old female suspect was booked into jail on a first-degree robbery charge.
