Suspect flees the scene after striking and killing pedestrian in Shoreline

A suspect fled the scene after striking and killing a 23-year-old woman who was crossing the street on Wednesday night.

SHORELINE, Wash. — Police are searching for a suspect in a fatal hit-and-run in Shoreline that took place before 10 p.m. Wednesday night. 

A driver was headed eastbound on state Route 523 when they struck a pedestrian who was crossing the roadway. 

The pedestrian, who was identified as a 23-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name has been withheld until her family can be notified. 

After striking the woman, the driver fled the scene. The Washington State Patrol has activated a yellow alert and is asking the public to be on the lookout for a black 2007 GMC Yukon four-door SUV with the WA license plate #BIS1792. 

Anyone with information about the suspect or this incident should contact law enforcement.
