As of Christmas morning, Crystal Mountain Ski Resort is only six inches away from topping the snowfall totals from all of last year.
So far this season, the resort received 228 inches of snow. (That's 60 percent ahead of normal.)
All of last season, it got 234 inches.
The slopes were packed on Friday with people from all over the Puget Sound area coming to enjoy the terrific ski season so far this winter.
But some people had to work on Christmas - some dogs, too.
Crystal Mountain has four avalanche rescue dogs on duty, including Kala, a 7-year-old chocolate lab.
Kala has never had to rescue anyone, but she spends her days practicing using her wet, wildly-accurate nose to track down strangers who could be stuck under feet of snow.
"She is trained to look for human scent buried under the snow, any human scent," said her handler, Christina, who's been working with Kala for almost seven years, "She doesn't have to have your scent to find you."
