EATONVILLE, Wash. — Two people are dead after a small plane crashed Saturday night near Eatonville, according to the Pierce County Sheriff's Department.
Witnesses reported to authorities at around 9:20 p.m. that a small plane had nosedived into a tree line south of the city just before a loud crash.
Rescue unit with the help of witnesses found the crash site in the woods, the Pierce County Sheriff's Department said.
The pilot, 40, and passenger, 53, were killed in the crash. Authorities have not yet shared any information on their identities.
Fire crews and the Explore Search and Rescue Team worked to bring the victims out from the crash site.
The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board will investigate what led to the deadly crash.
