Snohomish School District officials plan to ask voters to consider a $470 million bond proposal intended to replace or renovate schools and upgrade security equipment.
The Everett Herald reports money also would be used to reduce the number of portable classrooms.
The ballot question is expected to be put to voters in February. The district last sought approval for bonds in 2008.
Individuals with ties to district schools — but not employed by the district — decided after about a year of planning what would go into the new proposal.
The targeted buildings opened before 1990 and don't meet current needs.
About 9,800 students attend schools in the district.
