WASHINGTON, USA — Starting Friday, June 20th, campfires will not be allowed on state lands throughout southeast Washington. The Washington Department of Natural Resources cites hot, dry summer weather increasing wildfire danger in the area.
This comes as fire danger remains high in Washington state with multiple wildfires actively burning. DNR says campfires will still be allowed on designated campsites. Propane or butane camp stoves and backpacking stoves are still allowed.
The ban affects these counties specifically:
Adams, Asotin, Benton, Chelan, Columbia, Douglas, Franklin, Garfield, Grant, Kittitas, Klickitat, Walla Walla, Whitman, and Yakima counties, as well as portions of Lincoln and Skamania.
