SNOQUALMIE PASS, Wash. – Twenty inches of snow covered the Summit at Snoqualmie Ski Resort Friday, allowing staff members to open for business.
"Who's getting first chair??!!" the Summit at Snoqualmie website gleefully asked Friday morning.
Summit West is currently the only chairlift open. Snoqualmie is the last ski summit to open in Western Washington this season.
Snoqualmie has been very anxious to open after not having a ski season last year. Temperatures on the slopes hovered around 30 degrees early Friday. As drivers made their way to Snoqualmie from Seattle, they didn't see any snow along I-90 until they approached the exit for the summit.
Snoqualmie staff is expecting more snow over the next few days.
Mount Baker had 83 inches as the summit Friday. Stevens Pass had 35 inches and Crystal Mountain checked in with 40 inches.
