TACOMA, Wash. -- Two young girls who attend Mason Middle School in Tacoma are in stable condition after they were hit by a car at the intersection of 21st and Monroe Friday morning.

Danielle Schneider, a mother of lives on the same block as the two girls, said she saw the accident when she was driver her daughter to Mason Middle School.

"That first lane a van stopped and the girls proceeded to cross the street," she said. "But when they crossed the second lane, a little silver car came driving through just like that and hit them."

Danielle says the two girls flew into the street and her daughter Annie rushed to help them

"I just wanted to know that they were breathing and still alive because I was scared for them," said Annie.

Annie stayed with the two girls until the ambulance came while Danielle went to alert their parents. Danielle wants drivers to be on alert when they are driving through the neighborhood and at that busy intersection

"If you stop you should not wave on any children unless you are sure and confident no one is jetting out around you," she said.

While the accident is still under investigation, the driver has not been cited for the accident according to Tacoma Police Department. The driver was not speeding and assisted the two girls after the accident.
