SEATTLE DNA evidence in the 50-year-old case of a missing Tacoma girl is unlikely to reveal whether serial killer Ted Bundy was responsible.
The News Tribune reports several pieces of evidence from the unsolved case of 8-year-old Ann Marie Burr were sent to the state crime lab in August to be analyzed, but Tacoma Police say scientists weren t able to develop a suspect DNA profile.
Tacoma Police spokesman Mark Fulgum said the investigation is not over and that no suspects, including Bundy, have been ruled out.
Burr vanished from her home in the 3000 block of North 14th Street on the morning of Aug, 31, 1961. Her parents found Ann Marie s bed empty. The front door and a living room window were open.
Bundy was executed in Florida in 1989 after being convicted of killing two Florida State University students in their sorority house, and a 12-year-old girl.
He confessed to 30 murders across the country, including 11 in Washington state. Police believe he killed many more.
