TACOMA, Wash. -- A rain and hail squall caused flooding on some Tacoma streets on Sunday.

Northbound Interstate 705 to Schuster Parkway was closed because of several feet of standing water.

The water made its way to the lowest point in the Stadium District in Tacoma -- the bottom of the Stadium Bowl.

Tacoma Public Schools spokesman Dan Voelpel said it looked like a planting area gave way on the hillside near the bleachers and flowed downhill onto the sidelines of the field.

He said there was no damage to the stadium because it's cement. By the time he arrived on the scene, the field had drained off.

The heavy rain also caused a few accidents on Interstate 5 and I-705 near Downtown Tacoma. The WSP said the heavy rain prompted deep water to pool on Shuster Parkway as well. It caused at least a few cars to stall in the deep water.
