The city says a variety of factors went into choosing the locations, including pavement management data, ensuring each city council district was impacted, road conditions and the city's Equity Index.

Crews will be averaging "125-150 tons" of asphalt per day for this project, it said. A full tally of the completed work will be shared by the city soon after the event.

Tacoma said crews temporarily patched 12,099 potholes and permanently repaired 2,889 potholes last year.

People who want to report a pothole can do so by dialing 311 within city limits, calling (253) 591-5000 or by visiting cityoftacoma.org/TacomaFIRST311
