TACOMA, Wash. — A water main break in central Tacoma could result in some customers seeing water discoloration, according to Tacoma Public Utilities (TPU).
TPU is reported a "large water main break" near the intersection of South Tacoma Way and South M Street that resulted in "discolored water" throughout a large portion of that neighborhood. It was caused by a contractor performing planned work near the intersection, according to TPU. The break has since been fixed, but customers of TPU are still asked to look out for water discoloration while crews flush the water mains.
Anyone who notices discolored water coming out of their faucet is asked to refrain from using their water for the next few hours.
Two customers near the break were put on a boil water notice during the incident.
Anyone with water quality concerns is asked to report them to TPU at 253-502-8207 or waterquality@cityoftacoma.org.
