It’s not easy to start your own business, but that’s exactly what a 13-year-old Tacoma boy did. Now he's donating some of the profits to cancer research.

Jordan Allen learned how to make candy from his grandfather when he was in the first grade. He said he wanted to continue his grandfather’s legacy, so he decided to learn the recipes and start a business.

Jordan started selling his candy at a local shop in December, and eight months later, he is selling his candy at other outlets, including three pop-up shops in the Tacoma area.

Three of his grandparents have or had cancer, so Jordan decided to donate 10 percent of all the proceeds from the JM Candy Company to the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance.

Jordan currently makes peanut brittle and toffee thins.
