The Seattle Humane Society says 277 dogs, cats, puppies, kittens and critters were adopted in their free adoption blitz over the weekend.

People lined up at the door over the Oct. 12 14 weekend, to adopt a pet.

Seattle Humane said this is an all-time life-saving record. More than 1,000 people visited the shelter over the weekend.

Adoption highlights included 105 kittens placed into homes of their own as well as 34 fabulous senior and long-timer cats and dogs. The oldest pets adopted were Dezzie, a beautiful 13-year-old torbie cat and Charlie, a 16-year-old Sheltie mix who was adopted by his foster family.

Adoptive families were sharing their joy via Seattle Humane's Facebook page.

Thank you for our Furbaby Kelli. She has made our dreams come true. What a Love Bug, after shopping, dinner and car ride she just passed out in my son's arms, wrote Blanche Cannoy Douglas.

Marilyn Sanchez-Bonilla wrote, Thank you guys for Batman. We adopted him this morning and he is the sweetest dog (and does not even bark).

Seattle Humane Society is located at 13212 SE Eastgate Way, just off I-90, in Bellevue. Seattle Humane is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thu.-Sat. and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sun.-Wed.
