Oso slide victim Summer Raffo's cats find a new home

Two cats that belonged to Summer Raffo, who died in the Oso landslide, are now in need of a new home. One of them is special needs because he is deaf and very shy.

UPDATE: Hampton and Summit went to their forever home with a family in Arlington. They will be the only pets in the household with a family who has a 15-year-old son with special needs.

Original story:

Two cats who lost their owner in the Oso landslide are now in need of a new home.

Summer Raffo died when the massive slide came down on her car as she drove along SR 530.

Summer's horses are being cared for by volunteers.

Summer's heartbroken and grieving mother isn't able to take care of her daughter's cats - 5-year-old Hampton and 4-year-old Summit - so she is looking for someone to adopt them, family friend Leslie Boyd says.

The cats are currently being fostered by a friend.

Hampton is solid black and Summit is white with a bit of orange. Both cats are neutered and have been declawed so they must be indoors-only pets.

The two cats are bonded so it is best that they be adopted together, especially since Summit is a special needs cat - he is deaf and very shy.

The cats have not been around children or other animals except on a limited basis.
