Officials are investigating a possible outbreak at Tibbetts Beach in Lake Sammamish State Park.

Seattle and King County Public Health learned up to 15 children are vomiting and experiencing diarrhea after swimming at Tibbetts Beach. Officials do not know which type of organism caused the illness, but they suspect norovirus, based on symptoms.

Public Health is temporarily closing Tibbetts Beach to the public, and King County Department of Natural Resources and Parks is testing the water for bacteria and algae.

All the people who got sick had symptoms within 24 hours of swimming at the beach.

King County Public Health cautions people from swimming at beaches for 48 hours after symptoms of vomiting and diarrhea, as it could spread water-borne illness.
