KING COUNTY, Wash. — Bus service to some of western Washington's most popular trails will resume over Memorial Day weekend.
Trailhead Direct will resume May 25, and will run through Sept. 15. Metro buses will take riders to the Mount Si area and Issaquah Alps on weekends and holidays.
Buses to Mount Si will leave from the Sound Transit Capitol Hill light rail station and downtown Seattle every 30 minutes with stops at trailheads leading to Mount Si, Mount Teneriffe and Little Si. Learn more about the bus route here.
Buses to the Issaquah Alps will leave from the Mount Baker light rail station every hour with stops at Margaret's Way, Squak Mount, Chirico Trail-Poo Poo Point, High School Trail and East Sunset Way. Learn more about the bus route here.
Trailhead Direct launched in 2017 to provide an accessible, eco-friendly way to get to the popular trails. Passengers have used the service for more than 70,000 hikes, including approximately 11,400 in 2023, according to information from Metro.
The program is a partnership between King County Metro, King County Parks, the Seattle Department of Transportation and Amazon.
King County Parks asks hikers to consider the following:
- Pack food and water and essentials such as hand sanitizer.
- Do not use Trailhead Direct or other transit modes if you're sick.
- Hike within your limits.
- Keep pets on leash.
- Stay on the trail and pack out everything you bring with you, including trash and pet waste.
