Seattle tunnel drivers can get a free ‘Good To Go!’ pass before tolling begins

The state wants drivers to be ‘good to go’ when tolling in the SR 99 tunnel under Seattle begins this summer.

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WDOT) is giving away a limited number of Good To Go! sticker passes to drivers who use the State Route 99 tunnel before tolling begins.

Drivers who fill out a short online survey will be mailed a free sticker pass within four weeks. WSDOT said the offer is limited to drivers who use the SR 99 tunnel and only available while supplies last.

The SR 99 tunnel opened toll-free on February 4. WSDOT said tolling will start in late summer 2019, but an exact date has not been set.

“Using a Good To Go! pass is not just the most convenient way to pay a toll, but it’s the best way to make sure you’re paying the lowest toll possible,” said WSDOT Toll Division Director Edward Barry.

Depending on the time of day, toll rates will range from $1 to $2.25 for drivers with a pass registered to a Good To Go! account. Drivers who register their vehicle to an account but don’t have a pass will pay an additional 25 cents per trip. Drivers without an account will be charged an extra $2 per toll.

Toll rates will increase three percent every three years beginning in July 2022.
