Two teens face charges for mugging woman while carrying a loaded stolen firearm

The 15-year-old teens, who have prior felony charges, appeared in court after the Oct. 20 mugging.

SEATTLE — The two 15 year olds pleaded not guilty in front of a judge Thursday after allegedly mugging a woman in West Seattle while carrying a loaded stolen firearm.

This is a case that the King County Prosecutor’s Office said it is taking seriously, which is why it arrived at the courtroom.

One of the teenage boys faces a count of unlawful possession of a firearm and identity theft, while the other faces charges of robbery and identity theft.

According to court documents, the teens were driving in a blue sedan last Friday, Oct. 20, and allegedly pulled up to a woman walking in West Seattle. The teens reportedly pushed her to the ground and took her purse.

KING 5 is not naming the suspects or showing their faces because they are minors.

According to court documents, the victim, along with the help of neighbors, track her phone to Westwood Village Shopping Complex. That’s where the teens were arrested after buying a PlayStation at Game Stop.

One of the teens was found with a stolen and loaded 9mm firearm.

Neighbors say they are now being extra vigilant about safety.

“It’s a conversation we’ve had to have with our kids. When you’re walking, make sure you’re not looking down at your phone, be aware of what’s going on around you,” said Jessica Meeds, whose husband went to help the woman who had been mugged.

The teenagers had previously been charged in two separate cases. One for possession of a stolen car and felony assault for fighting at school. The other for possession of a stolen vehicle, robbery and unlawful possession of a firearm.
