Typical Western Washington weather returns this weekend with cooler temps, possible rain

Prepare for below normal temperatures in Western Washington, at least for the next few weeks.

Prepare for below normal temperatures in Western Washington, at least for the next few weeks.

A marine push will give an increase of clouds and cooler temperatures beginning Friday, the National Weather Service reports. Additionally, a front will spread inland overnight and into Saturday, increasing the chances of rain.

Another system is expected to bring light rain to Western Washington later Sunday and Sunday night.

Cool, wet weather is expected to stick around for much of next week.

The seven-day forecast calls for temperatures to drop to the mid- to upper-60s, with rain for much of the week.

And that could be our reality for at least the next couple of weeks, according to KING 5 Meteorologist Jordan Wilkerson.

The upside to the cooler weather is that the region will likely remain mostly clear of wildfire smoke for the time being.

But just because the beginning of September looks relatively cool doesn’t mean we won’t see above-normal temperatures moving forward. The Climate Prediction Center is showing above-normal temperatures overall through November.

So there is still a chance we could see an 80-degree day.
