WASHINGTON, USA — A scam text message is targeting Washington drivers who use the Good To Go service.

The Washington State Department of Transportation Good To Go! X account posted on Monday, warning drivers that the text was circulating and to not click the link included in the message.

The text reads: "WSDOT Good To Go! Toll Services, our records show that your vehicle has an outstanding toll charge. To prevent further fees totaling $117.50, please settle the due amount of $11.75 at https://mygoodotoinvoice.com."

The real Good To Go website URL is MyGoodToGo.com and does not include the word "invoice."

"Be wary of scams and fake websites!" WSDOT Good To Go posted on X, formerly Twitter. "We won't ask you to make payments online anywhere but http://MyGoodToGo.com. Some of the fakes may look real, or have a similar URL, but the only website to pay a bill is http://MyGoodToGo.com."

This is the second Good To Go! text messaging scam that has circulated in recent months. The original scam asked recipients to pay a fee of around $6 to avoid fees of $66.

Here is advice from the Better Business Bureau about how to spot and protect yourself from scam text messages:

  • Don't trust unsolicited messages
  • Watch out for suspicious links
  • Know that a personalized message doesn't make the sender trustworthy
  • Look for spelling and grammar errors
  • If a website looks real, check again
  • Look up phone numbers before you call
  • If you spot a scam text, don't reply
  • Keep antivirus software up to date
