High Wind Warning, High Surf Advisory, Areal Flood Advisory, Gale Warning, Storm Warning, and a Wind Advisory are all in effect around the Pacific Northwest this weekend.
Mother Nature is parking a strong low-pressure system just off our beaches. This storm is something we'd typically see in February, not April.
What’s interesting is we experienced a storm just like this almost exactly one year ago. While spring may be on the minds of many, Mother Nature is still thinking winter!
Areas along the southern coast have a HIGH WIND WARNING with gusts up to 60 mph. A WIND ADVISORY along the central coast, NW Interior, and north end of the Olympic Peninsula could see gusts up to 45 mph. Most of Puget Sound will experience winds between 20-30 mph with a few gusts around the 40 mph threshold.
Some downed trees and a few power outages aren’t out of the question. Keep that in mind if you happen to live in any of the above-mentioned areas or exposed spots.
By Sunday, this storm will be slowly winding down. The day will gradually improve. It looks to linger overhead which will keep the rain and breezy conditions, but overall Sunday should be less active. Rainfall totals will range between 1-2 inches on the coast, and ½” – 1 around Puget Sound.
Last, but not least: snow levels. Looks like all of our passes will experience rainfall. Snow levels will fall down to 4,000 feet early Sunday.
