Western Washington woke up to a white Christmas this year.

Light snow began falling Sunday afternoon, turning heavier and spreading north and east as night fell. It was sticking on roads across Western Washington, creating slick driving conditions.

Cites and towns across Western Washington reported small accumulations. Issaquah had approximately three inches Monday morning.

Around 3.2 inches of snow fell at the National Weather Service Seattle since 3 p.m. on Christmas Eve. They say around 3 inches is still on the ground.

KING 5's Jordan Wilkerson says flurries would linger through the morning but any accumulations should be over. Expect gradual drying today with highs in the 30s and partial sunshine.

Snow levels dropped to sea level Christmas Eve with snow falling at the KING 5 studios kitty corner from Safeco Field. Some of the highest accumulations were expected along Hood Canal higher elevations of the South Sound and Southwest Interior, northern slopes of the Olympic Peninsula, and the Cascade foothills.

Temperatures will fall into the mid-20s and low 30s Monday night and cause wet roads from melted snow to freeze and form black ice, the National Weather Service said. Black ice is difficult to see and makes roads very slippery, especially on bridges and overpasses. Patchy freezing fog will also be a concern overnight through Tuesday morning's commute.

There is good news as you wind down from the holiday - Tuesday (for Boxing Day) should be dry and partly sunny!

Look for a few showers on Wednesday, scattered showers Thursday, and a better chance at more widespread rain by Friday. Highs by the end of the week rise well into the 40s.
