Level 1, 2 evacuations issued for fire burning in Chelan

The fire is burning 1,000 acres and moving quickly, according to Chelan County Emergency Management.

CHELAN, Wash. — A fire burning in Chelan is forcing Level 1 and Level 2 evacuations in the area.

According to Chelan County Emergency Management, Level 2 evacuations have been ordered for Hawks Meadow Road, Chukar Run, Dove Hollow Road, Big Sage Lane, Hawks Ridge Road, Columbia Rim Road, Downie Canyon Road, Chelan Butte, Little Butte and Butte Ranch Road.

Evacuations for these areas were previously Level 3 but were reduced around 8:30 p.m.

Level 1 evacuations are issued for Chelan, Waterslide Drive and surrounding areas.

The fire is moving quickly, according to Chelan County Emergency Management. 

The fire has burned 1,000 acres and is threatening homes, infrastructure and crops, according to Washington Emergency Management. 

"Current conditions present a specific and immediate threat to the life and safety of persons within this area," CCEM wrote in  a post on social media.

An evacuation center was opened at the United Methodist Church at 206 N Emerson St. in Chelan.
