CLE ELUM, Wash. — Highway 97 over Blewett Pass reopened Thursday morning after it was closed due to a wildfire.
The 15-acre Blewett Fire is burning about 21 miles northeast of Cle Elum, according to the Forest Service.
Fire officials urge drivers to drive carefully through the area as firefighters continue to work to extinguish the fire.
Fire officials said nearby structures are not currently threatened and no evacuations are in effect.
Residents in Kittitas Valley, Cashmere and Wenatchee can expect to see smoke, fire officials said. The official cause of the fire is under investigation, but officials have determined it was human-caused.
As of Wednesday evening, four fire engines, two 20-person crews, and two bulldozers, helicopters and air tankers are working the fire.
There are currently Stage 2 fire restrictions in place in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest.
