'It would have been bad': Bellevue woman still trapped in home after tree nearly lands on roof

"I have lived through [the] Second World War. I know the bombs that the Russians sent on Berlin. It was similar to that," Hall told KING 5.

BELLEVUE, Wash. — Damage from Tuesday night's bomb cyclone conditions trapped one elderly woman inside her Bellevue home.

Downed trees blocked the driveway to 85-year-old Monika Hall's home on Wednesday morning on 129th Avenue in Bellevue's Bridle Trails neighborhood.

"I cannot get in and out of the house there is no access," Hall told KING 5.

Hall can't safely get down from her front porch until all the debris is clear.

"That to me is a problem, because if I have a medical situation, I need to be able to go down," Hall said.

Around 7 p.m. Tuesday night, one of the massive trees now in her yard tumbled down towards her home.

"If the tree had been slightly a few inches to the left it would have been bad," Hall said.

When asked what the storm sounded like from her home, Hall evoked some of her earliest memories.

"I have lived through (the) Second World War," Hall said. "I know the bombs that the Russians sent on Berlin. It was similar to that."

Hall also recalled a big storm hitting the neighborhood around one of former President Bill Clinton's inaugurations.

However, Hall said she has not seen anything like Tuesday night's storm in her 50 years living in the neighborhood.
