Woodland Park 'Zoo Doo' competition begins

Want to get your hands on the highly-coveted compost for your garden? Here's the straight poop.

SEATTLE If you're starting to plan your spring gardening, it's time to enter for the Woodland Park Zoo's coveted Zoo Doo.

Zoo Doo is a highly sought after compost, which the zoo says is perfect for vegetables and annuals. It's made of feces from exotic species of the zoo's non-primate herbivores.

The Zoo also has its Bedspread available. It's like Zoo Doo, but has higher amounts of wood chips and sawdust. It is better for perennial beds, native gardens, rose beds, shrubs and tree rings.

You can enter for buy either the Zoo Doo or the Bedspread. You can also enter for both, but you must do so separately.

Send a postcard between March 1 and March 18 to:

You must also include:

  • Name
  • Day and evening phone numbers
  • Preference: Zoo Doo (Mark card Zoo Doo) or Bedspread (Mark card B.S.)
  • Amount of Zoo Doo or Bedspread you d like to purchase (anything from a garbage bag to a full-size, pick-up truck load)
  • Weekday or weekend preference for pick-up
