Everett Paul was in search of the perfect spot to propose to his girlfriend. He made the trek to Rattlesnake Ridge on Monday, April 23.

It was his first time there, so he asked a man for help.

He seemed like a typical guy, just catching rays, so I just saw him and asked him if he was a local and if he could help me out a little bit, help me figure out where I could propose, said Paul.

Paul said the man stood up and started pointing out spots. Paul took the man s advise and came back the next day.

there was a 10-by-10 foot spot that I found, he said.

That s where he asked girlfriend Audrey to marry him.

She said yes, said Paul.

But by the end of the week the engagement spot took on new meaning.

It turned out being the place, but also with some weird twists, I guess, said Paul.

The twist came when Paul heard about a manhunt for a murder suspect.

I got a little interested in the story. I looked it up online and and lo and behold I see this guy s face... I m like are you kidding me, he said.

At that moment he realized That s definitely the guy.

He said the stranger who helped him find a place to propose was Peter Keller, the man accused of killing his wife and daughter just one day before.

I was completely blown away, said Paul.

By the time he contacted police, Keller was dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in the bunker not far from where Paul spoke with him.

If he could pull of the normal card and then still do what he did is just... it s unbelievable to me, said Paul.
