Memorial planned to honor victims and volunteers of the Oso Landslide expected to begin construction in 2020

The effort requires both money and commitment, and there are ways for anyone to help.

SEATTLE — It's been a little over five years since the Oso Landslide occurred, taking 43 lives and throwing a community into a process of grief and rebuilding. The landslide is the first of this magnitude, marking it the single deadliest landslide in the history of the United States.

In an effort to honor the lives of those lost and remember the actions taken by first responders and volunteers, a permanent memorial is in the works for the site of the landslide. Although fundraising efforts thus far have been successful, the community still needs a little bit of help to make this plan a reality and move forward with the healing process.

Dayn Brunner, who was a prominent volunteer in the recovery efforts and sadly pulled his own sister from the debris when her car was found, is joined by Tom Teigen from Snohomish County Parks to give us an update on the memorial plans and how others can help.
