RENTON, Wash. - Edith Claver was last seen at a Renton church on November 27 of last year. She hasn't been seen since which worries her friends. Now investigators are looking at whether Claver is the victim of foul play.
Police began investigating the case as a missing persons case in November. Concerned for her safety, investigators released her photos and a press release asking for public assistance in locating her. Since then, investigators Kevin Keyes has spoken to friends and relatives of Claver.
Claver is originally from a tribe in British Columbia. According to police records, tribal members told officers that Claver was last seen going to a Tulalip Smokehouse.
Court documents obtained by KING5 News indicate detectives are now looking into whether Claver was the victim of a homicide. A search warrant filed this month in King County Superior court states there is probable cause to believe that there are suspicious circumstances surrounding a potential homicide.
The detectives are asking for all the records regarding Claver's e-mail account and her phone records from October 15, 2009 to December 15, 2009.
Renton Police Spokesperson Commander Paul Klein says the case is still classified as a missing person's investigation. According the investigators, Claver may be schizophrenic.
A day after she disappeared, police say a church employee found items belonging to Claver near a dumpster at the Ukrainian Community Center of Washington on Hardie Avenue Northwest. According to the Executive Director of the Church Oleg Pynda the maintenance man found Claver's wallet and other items neatly stacked near the dumpster. Pynda says Claver was attending the One New Man Ministries which has rented a room at the church for more than a year.
Anyone with information on Clavier's disappearance is asked to call the Rent on Police Department.
