Move over Snow Globes, here comes RainGlobes

Three Seattle inventors have made the wet version of the Snow Globe

SEATTLE- The ubiquitous snow globe has been adorning the shelves of homes around the world for more than 100 years.

But, if three Seattle inventors have their way, you many need to make a little more room.

They made RainGlobes, a water dripping version of a snow globe inspired by a souvenir stand at Sea-Tac airport.

The idea was simple. Creating them however, was anything but.

Inventor Fred Northup Jr said, "Trying to simulate rainfall is more challenging than it sounds. All the early, early prototypes are rude, crude but functional. The most challenging part was actually figuring out how to consistently have it rain little rain drops."

Years after they began, they finally created a version that met all their demands. They even received a patent for their one-of-a kind design.

"Our moms are very proud," said Northup.

They may never sell as many as their glittery counterpart, but three friends with unshakable determination hope they found their pot of gold, at the end of the rain globe.
