With Warcraft battling onto movie screens June 10, it's about time everyone starts learning the various humans, orcs and mages.
USA TODAY kicks off a week full of exclusive videos introducing the main characters of the fantasy action-adventure, an adaptation of the popular video game by director Duncan Jones. First up: Anduin Lothar, the military leader of Azeroth played by Australian actor Travis Fimmel (Vikings).
When a mysterious band of orcs shows up and starts attacking the kingdom, the human Lothar leads his soldiers — including his son — into war but he's torn between duty to country and duty to family. He also has a "sexual chemistry" with the half-orc warrior Garona (Paula Patton), according to Fimmel, and an often humorous relationship with rookie magician Khadgar (Ben Schnetzer).
"Travis is a really exciting and charismatic actor — absolutely just a natural leading man," says Jones.
The behind-the-scenes video also shows Fimmel working on his sword and boxing skills, though the actor adds that "it's not just about fighting. What excites me about his film is there's areal story with this beautiful backdrop of Warcraft and the universe you're immersed in."
